Logo update – designing

Lately I have been trying to figure out what this site is and why I am wasting any time on it. I started working on the logo because I really wanted Thor’s head on there instead of just two Hanna’s mirrored. So, this is what I came up with. I am really liking how it turned out.

Working on the logo stirred something up. I miss designing stuff. So… I think I am going to do it more often. This brings up an interesting issue. In the past, I always had a reason to make stuff. Either I was getting paid to do something for a client or it was for my own companies. It has been a really long time since I did something just for the fun of it – and, it feels really weird. I actually feel guilty, like I am wasting time.

So anyway… after talking to Gina about it, I think I am going to mentally view this Mogs and Dogs thing completely as a way to express any creative mind farts that I have. No expectations, no parameters, no rules. Then I am going to give myself the freedom to “waste” time on it. If I am not having fun doing it, then I won’t do it.

As I write this, I am realizing how, as we age, we get trapped in a mindset that everything we do has to be working towards a greater goal, or building something. And that something has to have some sort of monetary goal attached to it. It’s funny, I don’t even play my guitar anymore because there is this voice in the back of my head saying “you don’t have a job, only a loser wastes time on childish things like guitar when they aren’t working.” Hopefully that stops some day… we will see.

So here we go. Let’s make some stuff!

Speaking of that, here are a few banners I made for the site as well. Just fooling around. I made a pattern from the grill of the truck in the logo.
