The Story of Mogs and Dogs
“Move slow and fix things.”
For us, moving slow isn’t just a comment on the top speed of a Unimog (for us it is 52 mph), it’s a philosophy. It’s about taking the time to truly understand the machine or whatever it is that we are doing, learning how to fix it or do it “right”, and enjoying the scenery that everyone else is zooming past. One example of this is always avoiding Interstates. We stick to the back roads and highways that are literally less traveled. For us, it is about the journey, not the destination.
As the legendary NFL coach Sean McVay says: “process over results”.
The Journey
Mogs And Dogs started as a YouTube channel to document our vehicle build and travels for friends and family. However, during the year-long process of researching and buying our Unimog, I realized that while the community forums and blogs were incredibly helpful, there was a real gap in video documentation.
I decided to start making videos that I would have wanted to see myself. Super basic things that are obvious to mechanics but need to be spelled out to a non-mechanic idiot that just purchased a giant commercial diesel vintage truck.
After a while I decided to make a website so I could post stuff in a more organized fashion.
Our Goal
My mission is to give back to the community that helped me get my start. By producing high-quality videos and technical guides, I hope to help the next generation of Unimog owners and adventurers navigate the learning curve of these unique machines in the USA.
While I was a graphic designer by trade—I am a student when it comes to Unimog mechanics (really any vehicle mechanics). This site documents that learning process.
Our goal is simple: to provide the resource I wish I had when I started. If this project eventually covers its own costs, that’s great—but helping you (and me) stay on the road (or trail) is what matters most.
What is on this site?
Mechanical
Right now this site has info on stuff like obtaining, maintaining and modifying our Unimog and Mitsubishi Montero.
The Dogs
Thor and Hanna are the dogs part of Mogs And Dogs. We would be miserable without them.

Travel
Eventually we hope to have more international travel information – once we start. Realistically, there is already so much information out there on travel it seems pretty pointless. We aim to share some of the specific logistics of overland travel in a heavy vehicle — definitely not the AI generated ‘Top 10’ list fluff that you see all over the interwebs. We will see though.

Graphic Design
In a past life I was a graphic/web designer and I have started dabbling again for fun. I have been posting any related (and maybe eventually non-related) design work on this blog as well. I don’t know why but I’ve taken on the task of digitally restoring the cryptic Unimog dash decals. My goal is to build a library of digital Unimog assets that I can use someday to do more creative work with.

Other stuff
Since this site is not a business, nor does it mean anything to anyone, I have no problem putting anything I want up here. So who knows what we will get up to in the future.
If you are interested in anything that we are doing then please reach out. We love to meet new people and talk about anything really.
Regards,
Chad
