SBU Unimog Vendors: Parts, Forums, and Services
This collection identifies essential resources for SBU Unimog owners, primarily within the United States. It highlights online forums for technical discussion and peer support. These platforms facilitate the exchange of specialized knowledge regarding vehicle maintenance, parts sourcing, and expedition habitat integration for various heavy-duty truck models.
The guide lists reputable vendors for new and used parts, professional mechanical services, and custom fabrication. It covers specialized components like fuel tanks and air systems while recommending businesses for off-road modifications. These resources assist owners in navigating the complexities of maintaining and outfitting specialized adventure vehicles.
Note 1: This list is going to only apply to SBU Unimogs because that is my only area of knowledge and experience.
Note 2: This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of available vendors. It is almost exclusively people or companies I have actually had interaction with in some way and I give my honest experience. If you would like to be added to the list, please reach out and I will consider adding you to the list.
Note 3: I live in the USA so I try to work with places here in the states. There are a ton of good resources in UK, Germany, and Australia that I do not have listed. This has no judgement on them – it just costs a fortune to ship parts across the world and thus I have not used them.

Forums/discussion/help:
BenzWorld – Unimog
This community has been extremely helpful and is where I spend most of my time. This is how a forum should be run. Everyone is helpful, respectful, they use full sentences, and never get off topic. Benzworld is well moderated and the forum layout allows for easy searching and retrieving of older information. This forum has more than a decade of quality information.
Expedition Portal – Unimog and MB truck
This forum is okay. It is moderated and there are some good people but there just aren’t that many Unimog owners. It is more helpful for the habitat stuff because that is the same across vehicle platforms. It is nice that there are at least some big truck people here.
Overland Bound
This is a good forum for general Overland stuff. It is small trucks only though. They have a “full size rig” section, but it is just a bunch of pickup trucks. I don’t know why, but there is just no big truck action here. I do like what Michael and Corrie have done for the community and wish them well.
Buy/sell Unimog Parts or Trucks:
Mogs And Dogs Ebay Store – Used | Parts | CA, USA
This is where I try to sell a few items that might be worth something. Most parts are too big to ship, so usually local pickup only.
Unimog Center – Used | Trucks | NH, USA
This is where I bought my truck. George is very knowledgeable and honest. 5 stars!
Expedition Imports – New | Parts | CA, USA
A ton of parts and knowledge here. Ask for Scott. If they don’t have it in stock, they can probably order it. One of the huge benefits of EI is their knowledge. You can include your serial number and they will make sure the parts are correct for your truck.
Terry Lee Enterprises – New/Used | Parts/Trucks/Repair | La Junta, CO
As far as I can tell this is one of only two professional Unimog mechanics in the USA. Rob Pickering is the owner and has been buying, selling, and repairing Unimogs since 1996. He seems to be capable and knowledgeable across the full range of models including the SBU models like mine and U500s that were sold here briefly. Rob was very helpful during our trip to CO and the air system issues. He has also fixed a number of engine and drive train leaks that were too big of jobs for myself.
A.C. Price Engineering – New/Used | Parts/Trucks/Repair | North Yorkshire, England
Our good friends Dan and Geraldine who own Dolly recommended Paul from AC price. They have bought parts, complete Unimogs, and had a lot of service done here. From what I hear, they have more of an expertise in the farm/commercial side of Unimogs – I do not think they deal with expedition campers at all though. I was able to get new Mercedes parts from them at a good price and very quickly. I highly recommend.
PNW-Unimog – Used | Trucks | Tangent, Oregon, USA
Chris imports and sells complete Unimogs. He spends a lot of time on the North American Unimog group on facebook. I haven’t actually bought a truck from him but I talked to Chris once on the phone and he seems like a really nice, helpful guy that is really into Unimogs.
Benzworld forum For Sale and Wanted – Used | Parts/Trucks | Web, USA
A public forum parts exchange that anyone can post used parts or trucks.
Unimog Exchange – Used | Parts/Trucks | Web, USA
A public parts exchange that anyone can post used parts or trucks.
Teksan – Used | Parts | Turkiye
Apparently Turkiye has a large Unimog presence and actually has factories that are authorized to make Unimog parts. Teksan sells a wide variety of parts at really low prices. Ordering is really easy and shipping is quite reasonable. I would make sure you know the exact part numbers you need before ordering. I do not trust their knowledge like EI. Also, I have not had the best luck with rubber parts. I have had to make modifications to torque tube boots and the rubber subframe mount bushings to make them work.
Atkinson Voss – New/Used | Parts/Trucks/Camper bodies | UK
I have never actually bought anything here. I have had a few things quoted but shipping costs plus VAT have always changed my mind. They have a ton parts new and used and they even manufacture their own accessories and upgrades that I would love to have some day.
Merex – New/Used | Parts/Trucks | Germany
I have never contacted them. I know they are well used by forum members and the gold standard for all things Unimogs.
Expedition Meister – Used | Trucks with Campers | Web, Worldwide
A public marketplace for all types of adventure vehicles. They do have a very large Unimog presence. Our friends Dan and Geraldine are selling Dolly on the platform.
Unimog Museum – This is the official Unimog Museum in Gaggenau Germany. You can visit the museum, get driver training, and they are the best place to get workshop manuals and literature.
Megori Brake Systems – New | Brake/Air system parts | Torino, Italy
This company creates air system component rebuild kits. They make a ton of kits for Wabco and Bosch valves. I bought a rebuild kit for my Bosch service brake air valve from them. They said they don’t normally sell direct to consumers but they made an exception for me. This is a link directly to their air valve catalog.
VonsMog – New | Parts | Denver, CO??
Von mainly sells parts for the round body Unimogs. There are a few things that cross over to the square body Mogs. The Front Portal Box Vent Tubes that I used are from Von. I think he actually makes them himself.
Other Parts – Not Unimog Specific
Belmetric – New | Fasteners | MA, USA
Metric bolts, nuts, hoses, clamps, electrical connectors, and more. Matt (the owner) is a serial Unimog owner and quite knowledgeable and helpful. 5 Stars!
Expedition Upfitter – New | Camper and overland parts and supplies | Victoria, BC Canada
This is actually a store created by Adreas, the owner of Total Composites so you can outfit your new camper with anything you might need. I have ordered a few things from them like the accordion for the pass through and some storage organizers. I intend to rely on them heavily for the bigger things as our build out gets more underway.
Fabrication
Sixgun Offroad – Metal fabrication | Huntington Beach, CA | 714-907-7372
T.J. at Sixgun fabricated my winch bumper and mounted my custom fuel tank. He was easy to work with, listened to what I wanted, got the work done in a reasonable time at a reasonable cost, and his welds are beautiful. I saw some other more intricate body work that was being done at his shop and it was immaculate. I would highly recommend T.J. His focus is offroad vehicles, specifically desert racing, so I think he brinks a lot of engineering to the table.
Ian Wilson – Metal fabrication | Santa Paula, CA | 805-766-3003
I worked with Ian through Bear Adventure vehicles to build my custom subframe and pass-through. Ian was really easy to work with, the quality was really good and he is used to larger projects – his day job involves high-end residential welding. The only downside for myself is the drive – Santa Paula is not a quick trip from Long Beach under any circumstance.
Bear Overland Vehicles – New | Composites Campers | Santa Paula, CA, USA
BEAR Adventure Vehicles is a Southern California based van/truck outfitter dedicated to helping create experiences for people to explore the natural world by building practical and innovative adventure vehicles. They are the Southern California Total Composites dealer. Orlando has been extremely helpful and we cannot wait to finally get our box.
Alumitank The Fuel Tank Specialists – New | Fuel tanks| Harvard, IL
This was another excellent experience from a specialist company that knows their shit. I spent months, maybe years trying to figure out my fuel tank situation. It was complicated and annoying. I should have just gone to Alumitank right away. I was hesitant because of the cost of building something custom, but in the end I don’t think it was that expensive – especially if you include my time. The process was super easy, they answered all of my stupid questions, and I got a beautifully made tank exactly the size I need. My one regret is understanding the fittings better. I knew nothing about thread sizes and you want to make sure that you get really common thread sizes on the fittings and the fuel cap. In fact, I would get all of that from them with the tank if I did it again. It was hard to find some of that stuff from other vendors. Also, i probably should have spent the extra money to have it painted black. It will be a huge pain in the ass to drain it, remove it, and paint it now.
ALCO Custom Covers – New | Spare tire covers | Jacksonville, FL
We found ALCO via Gemini looking for spare tire covers. This became one of the best experiences of our build. They had an online builder that was super easy to use. The price was insane – I think it was under $100. It ended up being cheaper than if we built it ourselves. The quality is great. They communicated well. Mainly, this is one of the few projects that we used a vendor for that just went smoothly from start to finish and we ended up with something better than expected and at an affordable price. 10 Stars – highly recommend!
Dogs – German Shepherds
German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County
GSROC is, I would have to assume, the biggest Shepherd rescue in southern California – they care for a lot of dogs. This is where we adopted Hanna. It is a great organization with really nice people that help a lot of dogs. They are always in need of money, supplies, help at events, and fosters. Please help if you can.
